11:10 Damn.
11:39 So he killed Maroro, same kind of blade too.
21:43 Oh Wow!!!
23:11 Well, there is enough salt there to rub it in that wound he just gave Shichirya.

Damn!!! When those credits begin to roll, I was like WTF!?!! There's still 10 Episodes left!!!

Sonofabitch!!! So Woshis was responsible for the gates opening and probably the destruction of the cannon in the previous ep. Reason why I said the gates because those hooded soldiers behind him had the same get up when Mikazuchi killed two of them in the gate house.

And the attempt on Oshtor's life, which killed Maroro and the assassination of Mikazuchi.

That means that the one that stabbed Mikazuchi, Miruhj. Like Shichirya, are working for this guy.

Helluva puppet master if Raiko thought he was in charge. But I am floored by this introduction of 'It was me, Dio' as the Overall Prime Antagonist of the past two seasons.

She can solo an entire nation if she wants too

RIP all those who have died in the civil war.

I've mostly disliked how Raiko puts on the Akuruka at the end, because I thought it weakens his character a bit. It even got to me in a meta sense for the game, like "Is this only because the devs wanted a boss battle here since it fits?"
But I suppose it can be interpreted as a new generation surpassing the old Mikado by defeating his original creation, and it somewhat shows how he values the loyalty Shichirya shows him.
Raiko becoming a vessel for this symbolism still kinda weakens his own character. I still believe it would've been much better for him as an antagonist if he had went out his own way, kinda like how Andrew Ryan did. "A man chooses, a slave obeys."
Edit: The anime surpass the visual novel for this though. Shichirya's reaction to Raiko's death is much more well done here. The anime helped me made peace with his end.

It doesnt just weaken his character abit, it fcking destroyed his character. think about it he's all about change and not relying on the powers that the Mikado had, he's about destroying the "cradle" thats literally his entire philosophy. Then the devs HAD to ruin everything by having him literally say something along the lines of "no" and then :oh never mind guess i'll use it afterall" it's... i can't ARGHHHHGSJAGsjgasdjl

same lol, bro was like "no i won't use this, it goes against all i stand for"

Raiko may have been a bad person but he wasn't evil

PettankoLovingCunnyseur • 1 year ago

There's still the true mastermind to deal with. The last remnant of an ancient evil of an era long past.

KiboE • 1 year ago

Indeed, to me, he is the most "despicable" of the all characters in this series/game: Because of his stupid Daddy complex which made him go down a path of hypocrisy (unless you are referring the guy I'm thinking about).

PettankoLovingCunnyseur • 1 year ago

The oppression of the Onvitaikayan must never return. Like, I don't even dislike Raiko at all, but Woshis is something that cannot be allowed to exist.

Nanaten • 1 year ago

To be fair, he did write Ukon x Haku doujins
Truly, a national treasure

ramenmen • 1 year ago

Woshis is just twisted, the pure love he received he changed it into absolute evil. Twisted to the core and shouldn't exist

Shiroshiroshirosan • 1 year ago

The moral of this might just be don't trust the fembois

damn so raiko was just a pawn the whole time crazy

So the mask is stuck, must be a human problem

Kranesh • 1 year ago

Raiko's plan all along was to send a message, even at the cost of his life, and it seems that everyone else included the princess learned that so they can all guide Yamato towards a better path.

This episode was a nice conclusion to this arc, it was really good and emotional in the VN, so I'm thankful that the anime managed to almost convey the same feelings from the game.

In any case, now it's time for the final arc of Mask of Truth, because there's something else that's rotting Yamato from the inside and it wasn't Raiko... we're all gonna learn about that very soon.

BlackReaper23 • 1 year ago

is this the end of this season tho?

Kranesh • 1 year ago

No, there's a few episodes left.

IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro • 1 year ago

And here I thought Maroro's death was tragic. Raiko was my favourite of them all, he didn't deserve to die like this! And betrayed by a bitch no less! :'((

S3X God Nimbly • 1 year ago

I'll wait til this season wraps then then start watching all of Utawarerumono from the very beginning. Just seems like one of those series I'll appreciate a lot more once I can binge it.

kyoshiromibu • 1 year ago

so the mask of truth was a no show hmm

the Finance Guy • 1 year ago

Looks like we got a new puppet master to content with. Hope Haku can figure out a way to take off the mask.
